Yes the light HAS to come on to be lit up! They could be away from their desk but they are still logged on! So that is what I think! : )

Yeah when its lit up, they are on.When its idle, they haven't touched it in awhile.I have my friends on my address list, and their faces are there also, sometimes lit up or not.You can also appear invisible.So, if i want to see if they are really on(and not invisible) i go to my addresses.That tells me whenever they are on, and sees past the invisible mode.
